This policy explains what information BookSourcer.com collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. BookSourcer connects people who want to sell or give away books, CDs, DVDs and similar items with local resellers, organized by ZIP code.
Information we collect
We collect only what you type into our forms and a small amount of technical information your browser sends automatically.
If you want to sell or give away items
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to give one
- Your ZIP code
- Whether you want to sell or give away, the types of items you have, and roughly how many
If you apply as a reseller
- Your name and business name
- Your email address and phone number, if you give one
- Your website or store link, if you give one
- The ZIP codes you want to claim
Technical information
Like most websites, our site and its hosting and security services may record your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, and reCAPTCHA collects some browser and device information as it does so, under Google's Privacy Policy.
How we use your information
- To respond to your request to sell or give away items
- To match your request with the local reseller for your ZIP code
- To review reseller applications and activate ZIP code territories
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
Local resellers. If you ask to sell or give away items, we send your request to the reseller for your ZIP code. That means they receive the details you gave us, including your email address and phone number, so they can contact you. If no reseller covers your ZIP code yet, your request stays with us until one joins or we contact you directly.
Service providers. We use services that help us run the site, such as web hosting, email delivery, spam protection and security tools. They handle your information only to provide those services.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
We do not otherwise share your information with third parties.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for as long as we need them to handle your request and to keep records of our reseller network. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see "Your choices" below).
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop contacting you. Email us at the address below and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can. Resellers who received your request are separate businesses, so you may also need to ask them directly to delete what they hold.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure connections and security monitoring on our site. No website or email can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
BookSourcer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service grows. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
